The Muncie Railroad Preservation Society is a newly formed organization of railroad enthusiasts passionate about preserving the railroad history of Muncie and Delaware County, Indiana.
We are currently working on scanning hundreds of historical railroad photographs from Muncie and the surrounding areas.

The Muncie Gas Boom was an era in the late 19th and early 20th centuries when the city transformed into an industrial powerhouse due to the discovery of abundant natural gas in the surrounding Trenton Gas Field.
The railroads helped to build Muncie during its heyday.

The Muncie & Western Railroad Company was founded in 1902 and operated until 1994 at the Ball Glass Manufacturing Plant in Muncie, Indiana.
Muncie's Union Station was located at 630 South High Street in Muncie. The building stood from 1883 to 1990.

Muncie's Station is located at 700 E. Wysor Street in Muncie. This station served Muncie as a Passenger Station for the Chicago, Cincinnati, & Louisville Railroad (C.C.&L.), the Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O), and the Amtrak Cardinal Route until 1986.
Muncie Station is now home to the Cardinal Greenway.

Yes, we accept donations of model train sets (any scale and condition). The Muncie Railroad Preservation Society can collect model train sets and railroad memorabilia in Muncie and the Delaware County area at no charge. Depending on the condition and scale, we can offer you the fair market value for your donation. All donations will receive a Charitable Donation Receipt. Donations help to fund projects.
To become a Friend of the Muncie Railroad Preservation Society, you can add us as a friend on our Facebook page: facebook.com/muncierailroadpreservationsociety/ to see our photos and updates.
To become a Contributing Member as an Archivist or Historian, please contact us if you are interested. Contributing Members are involved in our historical research, helping to archive photos, and helping our organization. Contributing Members may attend our bi-monthly meetings.
To become a Board Member, candidates are chosen based on their skill sets and experience.
Please contact us if you are interested. Currently, there are no Board Member vacancies.
